Thank you Joan. The advice and the options you gave us were very helpful for DXXXX. I am delighted to tell you he has not dropped out and is getting much better support in college now. He’s delighted and we are too

I gained a clear insight into how my son can avail of some of the services. I never went to college myself so don’t really know all this. He will hopefully get the SUSI grant and it was good to hear about emergency funding available.

I didn’t think I could go to college, but after the talk I’m thinking now I can

5th Year Student, Dublin South Secondary School

The webinar was very informative for anyone starting out in college life, their parents or even those with students in 1st year of college, a great resource to help on the journey into college

Mother of Leaving Cert student, Dublin 14

Joan gave a brief but detailed explanation of resources available and hints on how to help navigate student life and how to deal with real life scenarios when you hit a bumpy road. I would highly recommend using Pathways as a resource to help you on your journey into college.

Your background, experience and wealth of knowledge from a completely different angle really appealed to me. I will certainly be selling it as a reason to listen to your talk. I also feel my student would love to listen to your practical advice, gentle guidance and practical tips to help navigate those first few months of change in particular.

Parent Dublin 5 • 01/2026

My son has ADHD and dyslexia. This talk has made me more confident and more optimistic about my son’s transition to 3rd level.

The variety of the content and all that you touched on. Opened my eyes to how much my student will have to navigate during their transition to whichever option they take.

Coming from a Guidance Counsellor perspective, this was very detailed and up to date information. It gave a very good reality check for parents, with a realistic understanding of what faces their students. The webinar was clear, friendly, practical and knowledgeable. I am happy to recommend this to parents and students. Thank You

Hi Joan, very best of luck with Pathways.ie, a suite of services and information that is much needed by both parents and students as they transition to college life… Your service will improve first year college student retention, reduce dropout rates, particularly for at risk students in the first weeks and months when they are most vulnerable!
